A true Norfolk speciality species, the swallowtail butterfly can be found in the wet fenland and marshes of the Norfolk Broads. Swallowtail caterpillars feed on milk-parsley and adults can be seen nectaring from flowers such as thistles and ragged robin. The swallowtail is the UK's largest butterfly (Papilio machaeon), and can often be spotted during the summer at Broadland nature reserves like NWT Hickling Broad and Marshes.
