Avocets (Recurvirostra avosetta) are a key species in the story of conservation. The avocet represents an amazing recovery of a bird once extinct in the UK, but now seen on marshes and estuaries through the East and South West. Avocets can be spotted on many of our coastal nature reserves, including NWT Cley and Salthouse Marshes.
